Thank you Mr. Baker!!!
A little foxhound history from Canada. Back in the late 50"s and early '60's Jim Eadie had a
tremendous influence on foxhounds in Canada. Jim is from Byron (London) Ontario and still resides
there. He has not had hounds since the late '60's. Jim was quite "well-to-do" and would spend
whatever it took to get what he wanted.
Around 1959, Jim was running hounds and was buying and raising from the best bloodlines at that
time. These hounds were the cream of the crop. He bought a 3-legged bitch Dasey Hawk (Colonel
Hawk) bred to USU Ch Half Back Pickett and from this he kept Colonel Pickett and Patsy Pickett.  He
bought Fleet McCoy (The Real McCoy x Stites Betty Hawk, she by Colonel Hawk) from Mr Wankel in
Mo. He also bought Jill McCoy (The Real McCoy x Dasey Hawk) and Jill was bred at the time to N Ch
Mr Yazoo (B). He also bought MW D Ch Jan Wankel (Powder's Son x Rosemary Pickett)  and when he
did she was bred to Pne Ridge Mose. From this cross came Frontenac Ch Tammy Palmer (F and D).
Another real good hound he had was Bamboo Haggin (Haggin lll x Ruff Bette Davis). Bamboo had won
a Derby in Texas before he came up here and then won the Mich St for Alex McLaren after Jim sold
him.
Jim was really competitive and wanted to win. But he could never count on winning all field trials
but discovered he could win all bench shows so he started crossing these outstanding bred bitches
to show sires. He bred Patsy Pickett to Royalwin and got a really good hound for my friend, Bob Huras
in NY Dch Mr Topnotch. He bred Fleet McCoy to Royalwin and as I said above, Jill McCoy was already
bred to N CH Mr Yazoo (B). Finally all of these hounds were sold or given away and Jim went to the
show game. For years that followed all of these hounds presence was felt at our smaller shows and
trials. I sat beside Jim at a show in about 1966 and I knew every hound in the show. During the All Age
female class that Cecil Taylor was judging I said to Jim "Do you have any idea how many of those
females in this class came down from your kennels"??  He answered, No!!  Every one did, all 10.
Jim went to the show circuit in about 1962-63. He went to the Richwood Knls and bought several
show hounds from W VA Pilot and he was on his way. He bought Richwood Tomboy, Richwood
Pamper, Richwood Amos and he also had Eadie's Sailor and Eadie's Jane Morgan. Jane was a puppy.
He would go to shows like Harrodsburg and Lawrenceburg, etc and win all 4 classes plus the puppy
with Jane Morgan. He finally bought 1/2 interest in the Richwood Knl from Herman Egar. Tomboy was
his greatest hound and she won every show and finally went to the National and won the show there
when the show hounds had to finish the field to retain their chamnpionship. We had a big show every
year in Kingston in March and one year Herman Egar was up and we asked him why he would sell a
hound like Tomboy. He replied, in his southern drawl "When Jim Eadie comes to your kennel and
sees a hound he likes, he makes it so you can't afford to keep that hound any longer". Jim has been
out of hounds for years after going through German Short haired Pointers and growing Orchids,
competively. BUT, his earyl influence in good bloodlines was enjoyed by many young hunters for
years to come.
