Foxhound & Foxhunting Facts and Trivia

In going through the old books, I have found some
interesting facts and just thought I would start listing
them on here.  Be sure to keep checking back by, as I will
keep adding to the list as I find interesting items.  Hope
you enjoy!!!!
1.   In 1970 a total of 4,236 foxhounds were registered in The Hunter's Horn. (HH 12/1971)
2.   There was a total of 69 hounds entered in the 1949 USO. (C 1/1950)
3.   January, 1950 The subscription price for the Chase Magazine for one year was $3.00. (C 1/1950)
4.   January, 1950 You could buy 100 lb bag of Peggy's Dog Food (meal form) for $7.50.  (C 1/1950)
5.   May, 1955 The subscription price for the Hunter's Horn for one year was $2.00 for Two years was            $3.00.  (HH

6.   May, 1955 Happy Jack Mange Medicine cost $1.50 for 10 oz, $3.00 for 24 oz, $12.00 for 1 gal.

7.   There was a total of 380 entries in the 1972 USO
8.   J.W. Elliott passed away August 13, 1973.
9.  Mose Hill of Waco, Kentucky, set a record for all time.  He bred the 1946 Futurity winner Flapper Hill, the 1947 Futurity
winner Hawk Hill, the 1949 Futurity winner George Jewell II.  (C11/89)
10.  CH. Ringmaster (N), Wildwood Jo Jo, Mark Goodman, Napoleon K'sStrive, CH. Flying Feet (B), CH. Gracie Zigity (F),
Ala. Ch. Warsaw Stride (f&b) and Buzzard Wing, died in 1942.
11.  S.C. Ch. Jack Trouble (f) (Fut. '38) died in April, 1943.
12.   Ch. Kate Dawson (F) died in June, 1943.
13.  Big Sam W. 16880 was struck by lightning and killed in August, 1943.
14.  Big Stride 400 died February 23, 1925.
