One hardly knows where to start in writing a report for the public on the U.S.O. Most for sure the public
wants to know about teh fox hounds, the number, the action, thereof, the work of the judges, the entry,
the finishers---most of all the champion. Let's talk a little about her.
Webb's Mollie Wins the 1967 Championship of the U.S.O.
Owned by Mrs. J. W. Webb of Ocean Springs, Miss., was a she hound taking the championship and owned
by a "her." But this is not unusual as just about as many women run hounds at the U.S.O. as men. It takes a
great partnership like the Webbs to make great packs, a co-operation that pays off. Number 179 Webb's
Mollie, she by Webb's Benny Jester ex Polly Webb.
In making the daily newspaper reports, Webb's Mollie was no stranger. She came to the final day as
leading hound in total scoring points. She had been consistent throughout the four days of terrific
running, a well bred hound, worthy to be entered in the U.S.O., and a long time proven fox hound, no
guesswork here. The Webbs, as young folk, have been coming to the U.S.O. for a long time. They knew
what it would take--and Webb's Mollie did not fail them.
I saw 179 as often, as many others did, saw her get the crossings, saw her hunting, saw her trailing, and
saw her always on the fast move.
I will wait until I get a full story about Webb's Mollie, her background, her way back breeding, etc. before
commenting further.
